About Cerakote
What is Cerakote?
Cerakote is a company that produces a range of ceramic coatings that are applied in a similar manner as automotive paint. These coatings are used in a wide range of applications. Some examples include the aerospace, defense, automotive, marine, and outdoor gear and equipment industries which includes our business: firearms.
Cerakote products can be air dry, or oven baked and depending on coating design; can withstand temperatures to approximately 1200 degrees Fahrenheit. In our shop we generally use a coating that withstands 600 degrees on the firearms themselves and the 1200-degree product for suppressors.
Why Cerakote?
- durable and impact resistant finish that works well with the tight mechanical tolerances of firearms due to the thin nature of the coating
- applies well with the use of stencils which allows for endless custom finish opportunities
- functions well as a rust inhibitor, so it is great for gear that is exposed to the elements
- Adheres to metals, plastics, wood
